University, colleges staff to have 28 public holidays in 2021

Aurangabad, Jan 19:

The teaching and non-teaching staff members of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU) and affiliated colleges will have 28 public holidays in the year 2021.

The registrar of the university has declared the list of public holidays of the New Year recently. A total of two holidays fall on Sunday while others on different days.

Some of the important holidays are Republic Day (Tuesday), Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti (February 19, Friday), Holi (March 29, Monday), Gudi Padwa (April 13, Tuesday), Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti (April 14, Wednesday), Maharashtra Day (May 1, Saturday), Ramzan Eid (May 13, Thursday), Parsi New Year (August 16, Monday), Ganesh Chaturthi (September 10, Friday), Dussehra (October 15), Diwali (November 4, Thursday), Guru Nanak Jayanti (November 19, Friday) and Christmas (December 25, Saturday).

A total of two festivals-Mahaveer Jayanti and Independence Day fall on Sunday (April 25 and August 15).

Besides, they will have public holidays declared by the local administration. The registrar made it clear that if the Government changes holidays or announce addition holidays, it will be applicable to Bamu and affiliated institutes' teachers and employees.
