Aurangabad, April 11:

The work of the Mukhyamantri Gramin Peyjal Yojana approved three years ago at Shekta in Aurangabad has stalled for the past few years. The Gram Panchayat has repeatedly followed up with the Zilla Parishad in this regard. However, villagers are alleging that the issue is not being addressed.

A scheme costing Rs 1.7 crore under the scheme was approved at Shekta on January 2018. The work of this scheme was inaugurated by MLA Haribhau Bagade. Water will be supplied to the village from a lake at Somthana in Badnapur tehsil. Three years have elapsed since the groundbreaking of the work. But since then there has been no progress. Sarpanch Akshay Babasaheb Wagh said the villagers are facing a severe water shortage. The villagers have to rely on a hand pump for drinking water.
