COVID-19: Lockdown in Thane extended till July 19

With the addition of 1,793 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, the tally in Thane district of Maharashtra rose to 48,856, a senior official said. As many as 50 more patients succumbed to the infection, taking the death toll to 1,454, said the official from the district collectorate.

In view of the increasing cases in Thane city, the lockdown has been extended till July 19 till 5 pm. 

Earlier, a 10 day complete lockdown was announced from July 2 to July 12. However, the lockdown has been extended for another 8 days in order to curb the spread of the virus. 

Only essential services will continue during this period. Also the terms and conditions will remain the same as before. The order to extend the lockdown has been issued by Thane Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vipin Sharma.
