The postponed preliminary examination of Maharashtra Public Service Commission on March 14 will be held within a week and its date will be announced on Friday, said Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray while interacting with the people of the state last night. MPSC preliminary examination would be held by March 22.

The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) had postponed the preliminary examination on March 14 after the state's rehabilitation department said it was not appropriate to conduct the examination due to restrictions in many districts due to the spread of coronavirus cases in the state.

Students preparing for the competitive exams staged protests across the state as the exams have been canceled repeatedly since last year. Hundreds of students were sitting in Navi Peth in Pune, creating tension in the area.

"The preliminary examination will be held within eight days from March 14. The announcement of new dates will be made tomorrow, this is my promise to you," Thackeray said in a televised message.
