In a shocking incident, 65-year-old man died within an hour and a half after taking shot of COVID-19 vaccine in Mumbai's Goregaon. 

The 65-year-old man took the vaccine shot at Millat Nursing Home in Jogeshwari on Monday. However, within minutes after adminitering the jab, he collapsed from his chair. He was later admitted to the ICU. However, he died within an hour and a half of being vaccinated. This is the first case of its kind in Mumbai.

The municipal health department immediately declined to confirm that the man's death was caused due to corona vaccine. He was given dose of 0.5 ml of Serum Covishield vaccine.

He was suffering from serious ailments like diabetes, high blood pressure and heart related ailments, said the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

India commenced its second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive to inoculate people above 60 years and those over 45 with comorbidities against the coronavirus from March 1.

Many prominent leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar Nationalist Congress Party Chief, Sharad Pawar have administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
