Popular veteran actress, Ashalta Wabgaonkar passed away on Tuesday morning. She had contracted coronavirus and was undergoing treatment at Pratibha Hospital in Satara. 

She contracted the virus while shooting for a Marathi TV show Aai Mazi Kalubai. Wabgaonkar was the only one among the cast to test positive. The rest were crew members. Most of them are asymptomatic and have been home quarantined

The test results had came out around a week ago. Wabgaonkar was critical till around three days ago. She was in hospital and put on ventilator support

Ashalata Wabgaonkar, commonly known as Ashalata, first started performing in Konkani and Marathi plays. She has acted in more than 100 Hindi and Marathi movies.
