In a bizarre incident, a 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend and cementing her body in the walls of his flat in Maharashtra's Palghar district, police said on Saturday.

The accused killed the woman, 32, as she was pressuring him to marry her, as per police officials. The body of the victim was recovered from the flat of the accused in Vangaon village, it said. The police said that the victim was killed around in October 2020. 

"The accused and the victim had been in a relationship for the last five years. She was last seen with the accused on October 21," it said.

When the family of the victim questioned about her the accused used to tell them that she had gone to Vapi in Gujarat. The family later approached the police, the release said.

A case has been registered against the man under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for murder and other charges.
