Maha Shivratri is a Hindu festival celebrated to honour Lord Shiva. It involves several Hindu traditions and rituals. According to the calendar, it is generally observed in February or March, based on the tithi. This year, that day falls on February 26, 2025. Maha Shivratri has immense spiritual significance and is celebrated in many states nationwide.

On this occasion, millions of devotees are expected to visit the famous Tungareshwar Mahadev Temple, located in the hills of Vasai in Mumbai. To manage the anticipated large crowd, the administration has ramped up preparations at the temple, and security is in place.

Maha Shivratri Preparations at Tungareshwar Mahadev Temple

A fair has been organised at the Tungareshwar Temple on Maha Shivaratri. "On the upcoming 26th, Maha Shivaratri will be celebrated, and on this occasion, a large fair will be held at the Tungareshwar Temple. Around 4-5 lakh people are expected to come for darshan. To ensure the safety and smooth conduct of this event, the police and the Traffic Branch will work together for crowd control," said Sub-Inspector (SI) Jitendra Vankoti.
