Pune, Maharashtra (April 2, 2025): A 49-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run while on a morning walk in Undri on Monday. The driver fled the scene but was later arrested. When officers arrived, they found Singh critically injured with a severe head wound. He was rushed to Sassoon Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Police reviewed CCTV footage from nearby residential societies and identified the vehicle involved. A case has been registered at Kalepadal Police Station under sections 106 and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with sections 184, 119/177, and 134 (a)(b) of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Nationalist Congress Party (SP) leader and MP Supriya Sule addressed the incident on social media, calling it a tragic loss that highlights ongoing pedestrian safety concerns. “A pedestrian lost his life after being hit by a vehicle while on a morning walk in the Undri area; a tragic and unfortunate incident that has once again raised concerns over pedestrian safety in the locality. Heartfelt condolences to the deceased and their family. Over the past few years, traffic congestion in Undri has increased significantly, making it hazardous for pedestrians even in the early hours of the day. Despite repeated appeals from residents for appropriate safety measures, authorities have failed to take substantial action. With growing vehicular movement, the roads have become increasingly unsafe for those walking. Urgent steps are needed to prevent such incidents from recurring,” she said in her post.
