Maharashtra experienced a slight drop in temperature today (February 12) after a major rise at the beginning of the month, bringing some relief to residents affected by the heat, according to the Meteorological Department.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that with the weakening of the western disturbance, northerly winds are once again influencing regions including north-central Maharashtra and Vidarbha. These winds are expected to enter the state from Wednesday night until the morning of February 14, leading to a further drop in night temperatures.While the cold wave in northern states is gradually receding, Mumbai's temperature rise has slowed, and the air has turned cooler.About a week ago, Mumbai’s cold had subsided due to obstructions affecting the southerly winds from North India. However, these barriers have now cleared, allowing cold winds to blow towards Mumbai, Nashik, Thane, and Navi Mumbai. As a result, daytime heat is expected to ease.In the next 24 hours, some cities in Maharashtra may experience cold wave conditions. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in north-central Maharashtra and Pune is likely to drop by 2-4 degrees Celsius between February 12 and 14.
