Aurangabad, Feb 22:

The acting district collector Dr Anant Gavhane today directed the health administration to increase the contact tracing in the vicinity of the Covid-19 patients so as to prevent the spreading of the infection in the district. It may be noted that a large number of Covid-19 patients are being reported in large number from Aurangabad, Vaijapur, Gangapur and Kannad tehsils of the district.

Zilla Parishad chief executive officer (CEO) Mangesh Gondavale, resident deputy collector Sanjeev Jadhavwar, deputy commissioner of police Meena Makwana, additional municipal commissioner B B Nemane, Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Dean Dr Kanan Yelikar, Dr Jyoti Bajaj, Civil Surgeon Dr Sunder Kulkarni, District Health Officer Dr S Shelke, vaccination officer Dr Vijay Wagh, Aurangabad Municipal Corporation's municipal officer of health Dr Neeta Padalkar, World Health Organisation's (WHO) Dr Nandapurkar and others were present in the meeting.

It is feared that the second wave of Covid-19 had hit the district as there is a sudden rise in Coronavirus infected patients. Hence Gavhane told the administration concerned to deploy and arrange an adequate workforce to tackle the then situation. He also mentioned increasing the conduct of tests in the district.

Gondavale recommended home quarantine to suspects till their RT-PCR tests are not received. He also urged all of them to remain alert, coordinate and utilise their previous experience to prevent the spread of Coronavirus and curb the death ratio.

Gavhane observed that the Covid-19 infection is spreading fast compare to the speed of spreading in the first wave. He suggested creating awareness and taking strict action against irresponsible citizens if found moving without masks in the public domain.
