Aurangabad, July 6:

A junior clerk of the Integrated Tribal Development Project office was caught red-handed by the sleuths of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday evening for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for issuing a cheque for the construction of a marriage hall sanctioned for a tribal settlement. A case was registered in this regard in the Jawaharnagar police station.

The accused clerk has been identified as Shailendra Krushnarao Bhope (48, Gajanannagar). According to information, the complainant lives in a tribal settlement at Bormal Tanda (Soygaon). The complainant went to meet Bhope to get the remaining check of Rs 3 lakh for the construction of the sanctioned marriage hall for this settlement. Meanwhile, Bhope demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000 for handing over the cheque. Hence the complainant approached the ACB and filed a complaint. The ACB officials then sent two panch along with the complainant on Monday evening to verify the bribe demand. After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept Rs 10,000 as bribe and asked the complainant to come near Chetak Ghoda chowk, Ulkanagari with the bribe amount at 7 pm. The police set a trap and caught Bhope red handed. Police inspector Hemant Ware, Sandeep Rajput, constable Balasaheb Rathod, Kewalsingh Ghusinge and Changdev Bagul participated in the trap.
