Aurangabad, Feb 3:

The Maharashtra State Electricity Workers Federation has called a strike on Wednesday to oppose the policy of the union government to privatize electricity industry, electricity bill – 2020, Standard Building Documents and other demands. The Subordinate Engineers Association has also supported the strike and hence the daily routine work was hampered.

The agitating workers shouted slogans at the Gate of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL). Federation Zonal secretary, P V Pathade, B L Wankhede, M N Mankar, Subordinate Engineers Association joint secretary Rajendra Rathod, Circle president Prashant Bansode, Wasim Patel, B Y Suryawanshi, Avinash Sanap and others were present.

The union government has announced an electricity bill – 2020 on April 17, 2020 to handover the electricity industry to the franchises, corporate and capitalists. Hence, this bill should be cancelled at once, they demanded.

The workers also supported the farmers agitation through this agitation.

The workers also demanded that the old pension scheme should be implemented, to cancel the provision of the forced retirement and other demands. Around 25 percent daily routine work was hampered due to the strike, the Federation claimed.
