A case has been registered against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena general secretary Sandeep Deshpande and four others at the Karjat Lohmarg police station in connection with the agitation to start local train service, TV Nine Marathi reported. 

On Monday MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande and some activists traveled by local demanding that local travel should be allowed for the general public going to work. 

However, despite the prohibition order, MNS leaders and activists violated the civil code by traveling locally. The leaders were accused of traveling without ticket, hanging at the door and violating government orders. Karjat Railway Police had registered a case against Sandeep Deshpande, Gajanan Kale, Santosh Dhuri and Atul Bhagat.

MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande, who also boarded the train said it’s high time the state government resumed the local train services for the public.

“The local trains are the lifeline of Mumbai. The government must allow the public to travel by suburban trains. This trip was an attempt to send this message to the government,” said Deshpande. “When the buses have started operating in full capacity, it makes no sense to restrict travel by trains. People are spending hours by travelling in buses,” he added.
