A fire broke out on the set of the popular television serial "Anupama" at Goregaon Film City in Mumbai on Monday morning, June 23, causing panic among crew members and nearby studio staff. The blaze was reported in the early hours, prompting an immediate response from the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB).

The incident was reported to MFB at 6:10 am, which engulfed the Annapurna set in Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari, located behind the Marathi Bigg Boss set near Hathi Gate in Film City. According to BMC officials, the fire started in a tent on the Annapurna set. The MFB declared it a Level-I fire at 6:26 am. After receiving the information, five fire engines, four jumbo tankers, one Additional Divisional Fire Officer (ADFO) and three Station Officers were rushed to the scene and began firefighting operations to bring the situation under control. According to officials, no injuries have been reported so far, and the crew present on the set was safely evacuated. The reason behind the fire is being investigated..

A famous Hindi family drama TV show 'Anupama', which is telecast on StarPlus channel, is owned by JioStar, a joint venture between Viacom18 and Disney India. It is also available digitally on the OTT platform of Disney+ Hotstar. The main actress in the show is Rupali Ganguly.

The fire was confined to a 5,000 square foot area and engulfed electric wiring, installations, plastic and iron materials, decorative items, cameras, costumes, lighting systems, and other studio equipment. Firefighting efforts are ongoing using four small hose lines and one first aid line with four motor pumps. Four fire engines, six JT units, 108 ambulances, an ADFO and three station officers are present at the site.

All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta said, "Today, a fire broke out on the set of the Anupamaa serial at Goregaon Film City in Mumbai. The fire started early in the morning at around 5 AM, while shooting was scheduled to begin at 7 AM. The fire brigade vehicle arrived an hour later, at 6 AM... I request Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to order an investigation into the fire that broke out on the Anupamaa set, specifically into the fire and safety violations. Thankfully, no worker lost their life this time. But till date, no action has ever been taken against any producer, production house or channel."

Meanwhile, a blaze was reported yesterday at Orchid Tower in Ghatkopar area. The blaze erupted in a flat of building number 6. Upon receiving information,  four fire brigade vehicles rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.
