The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday told the Delhi High Court that the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will be charged in the alleged money laundering case related to the Delhi liquor policy scam.

This happened when the central probe agency made the submission while the court was considering AAP leader and former minister Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s plea seeking bail in the excise policy case.

"AAP is going to be made a co-accused in the next prosecution complaint (charge sheet) to be filed in the case," ED's counsel contended before Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, who is hearing arguments on Sisodia's bail plea. This is the first time that any national party will be named as an accused in a chargesheet filed by any agency in a corruption case.

According to the sources, ED likely to file the chargesheet after the Supreme Court's hearing on interim bail for Kejriwal on Friday. If the hearing continues through the day, then the chargesheet will be filed tomorrow, sources said. Chargesheet filing against an accused is mandatory within two months of arrest. Kejriwal will complete two months in judicial custody on May 21. He was arrested on March 21 in the liquor policy case and is presently lodged in Tihar Jail.
