Cyclone Gulab hits Aurangabad badly, water seeps inside homes in many places, trees uprooted

Trees were uprooted in many parts of the city. In some places, vehicles were literally crushed. Water intrusion in the houses disrupt lives of the citizens.

Many houses in Vishrantinagar, Jayabhavani Nagar, Mukundwadi railway station area were flooded. Water seeped into houses in Kailasnagar. The Singapore Complex in the Gomtation Market area, the Govardhan Complex on Parandariba Road, VK Heights were flooded on the ground floor.

Water seeped in front of Vedmantra apartment in Vidyanagar as well as Alankar Society, Samarth apartment. Due to increased flow of nallah, water had infiltrated in Siddheshwarnagar area of Kranti Chowk ward. Corporation officials and employees rushed to the nallah.

Many shops on the ground floor of the Shahanurmiya Dargah area were flooded. In Mondha, houses and shops in CIDCO were flooded and disrupted normal lives.

The meteor shower was accompanied by torrential rains. A tree felling incident also took place at Aurangpura. Trees also fell on the Saraswati Bhuvan College premises. A tree fell on a house at Bhimnagar, Town Hall. Two trees fell in the vicinity of the Valley Hospital staff quarters. The trees in the Zilla Parishad yard also fell.

Additional Commissioner Ravindra Nikam, City Engineer S. D. Panjde, Solid Waste Management Cell Head Nandkishore Bhobe, Park Superintendent Vijay Patil, Executive Engineer Phad, Kakade along with officers and staff provided relief work.
