A sore throat can be caused by illnesses ranging from non-serious issues to COVID-19. However, it is a less usual symptom and may vary from person to person. In COVID cases, the virus enters the membranes associated with the nose and the throat, which can make them swell, leading to a sore throat.

Up to 40 per cent of coronavirus patients reported that they felt breathless during the initial days. Shortness of breath is also a sign of long COVID.

Dry cough is a telltale symptom of coronavirus that has been witnessed in most patients. Reports suggest that about 59 to 82 per cent of patients diagnosed with COVID-19 experienced dry cough during the initial days.

The combination of dry and persistent cough fits perfectly well in the profile for coronavirus infection. Dry coughing usually has a very consistent sound, triggered in the back of your throat. It changes the sound of your voice and it appears like a hoarse sound or barking. That happens because the airways are constantly changing with the cough.

A clogged nose can cause great discomfort during a normal cold and flu. Along with that if you experience smell loss (anosmia), reduced smell (hyposmia) or altered smell then your cough could be associated with COVID-19.
