3: After the spectacular victory of the Bhartiya Janata Party in the Rajasthan Assembly elections 2023, the speculations about the name of the next chief minister are rife. The party had contested the election under collective leadership without making anyone the face of the CM post. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself asserted during the poll rallies that the 'lotus' is the face of the election. Let us have a look at some of the reasons why Congress lost in Rajasthan.

1) Anti-incumbency - There is a change of power in Rajasthan every five years which has been going on for the past 3 decades. In this sequence, people have once again taken the key of power from Congress and handed it over to BJP.

2) Pilot-Gehlot conflict - This has been the biggest damaging issue for Congress. The struggle between Pilot and Ashok Gehlot not only crippled the government, but in general Congress faced an uneasy situation and at one point the party was on the verge of a split.

3) Paper Leak Scandal - The exam leak related to government jobs in the state damaged Gehlot government's reputation which sent a wrong message to the youth about the Congress government and BJP benefited from it.

4) Polarization - Bharatiya Janata Party cashed in on the Kanhaiya Lal murder case. The Udaipur tailor was killed on June 28 last year by two cleaver-wielding men who accused him of insulting Islam and even recorded the act on camera.

5) Red Diary Issue - Right before the Rajasthan elections, the Red Diary issue was raised in the state. This issue was raised by former minister of state Rajendra Singh Gudha, in which serious allegations of corruption were being made against the Gehlot government.

6) Women's Security- The Bharatiya Janata Party raised the issue of women's security loudly during the election campaign in the state and succeeded in attracting women voters to its side by attacking the law and order of the Gehlot government.
