A scuffle broke out between Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP) leader Jitendra Awhad and NCP-SP Maharashtra Minority Vice President Yunus Shaikh over the party's election manifesto book on Sunday evening, October 27.

Party Minority Vice President Yunus Shaikh said that his disappointment was not with the NCP-SP chief Sharad Pawar but with the party's Minority President Shameem Khan, and it will remain so.

Scuffle Between Jitendra Awhad and Yunus Shaikh in Mumbra

"We are calm because of the elections and will work for the people but my dispute with Shameem Khan has just begun... Jitendra Ahwad has assured that a new book will be released... I have got into a clash with Jitendra Ahwad nearly four times now but I always back off thinking about his good work for my community and the development of Mumbra." Yunus Shaikh added further.

Mumbra-Kalwa assembly seat is a Muslim majority seat, and in the last two elections, it has been occupied by the NCP. In the 2014 and 2019 assembly elections, Jitendra Awhad of the NCP (Sharad Pawar) won from this constituency.

This time, the party's minority vice-president, Yunus Sheikh, supported him and opened a front against the party's minority president, Shamim Khan. After the clash with Jitendra Awhad, he used the slogan 'Awhad tujhse bair nahi, Shamim teri khair nahi' during the press conference.

While the exact argument of their clash is not yet clear, reports said that the scuffle erupted over the party's assembly election manifesto. Meanwhile, ahead of the election, which is scheduled to go to polls on November 20, the Sharad Pawar-led NCP has so far announced over 76 candidates.

In its recent list of candidates, the party has fielded Siddhi Kadam from Mohol (Solapur), Gyayak Patni from Karanja (Washim), Atul Wandile from Hinganghat, Rahul Kalate from Chinchwad, Mohan Jagtap from Mazalgaon, and former minister Ramesh Bang from Hingna.

This time there is a direct contest between the Mahayuti and Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA). Apart from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the ruling Mahayuti includes NCP and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), while the MVA includes Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (Sharad Chandra Pawar).
