As the film marks its third anniversary today, Bhansali, in a recent interview, revealed the inspiration behind the project, shedding light on the journey that led to its creation.Sanjay Leela Bhansali revealed how the character and what she went through inspired her to make the film, saying, “What I liked about the character was that she was a very bruised, scarred woman, wronged by society and by the people she trusted. But she was a warrior.” Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and produced by Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada. Starring Alia Bhatt in the lead role, the film also featured Ajay Devgn, Vijay Raaz, and Shantanu Maheshwari.
