Hemant Karkare was the head of Mumbai ATS. He was martyred due to indiscriminate firing of bullets in an encounter outside Cama Hospital. He was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra.

Vijay Salaskar was called Encounter Specialist. ATS chief Hemant Karkare and Ashok Kamte were present at the time of the encounter. The terrorist Kasab and his accomplice had fired bullets. Martyr Vijay was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra.

Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan was leading Mission Operation Black Tornado during the 26/11 attacks. He was martyred in a battle with terrorists near Taj Hotel. He was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra in 2009.

Outside ACP Ashok Kamte Cama Hospital, terrorist Ismail Khan shot at him and a bullet hit him in the head. Despite being wounded, Ashok Kamte killed the enemy.

Tukaram Omble, showing his bravery, confronted the terrorist Ajmal Kasab without any weapon and captured him. Kasab indiscriminately fired at him and he was martyred. Tukaram Omble was posthumously awarded the highest gallantry award, the Ashoka Chakra.
