Mumbai Rain Forecast: The India Meteorological Department issued a red alert for Mumbai on Saturday afternoon, warning of intense rain and thunderstorms over the next few hours. A nowcast warning has also been issued for neighbouring Raigad district. The alert was released at 2 p.m. on June 7. The IMD said that intense to very intense spells of rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, are likely in isolated areas of Mumbai and Raigad. Gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour are also expected during the next three to four hours. This alert comes after a dry spell since June 2. Residents are advised to take precautions while travelling outdoors.Rainfall Expected in Central Maharashtra, Marathwada and VidarbhaAccording to the reports, parts of Central Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha may witness increased rainfall on June 7. Thunderstorms and heavy downpours are expected in places like Baramati, Daund and Indapur in Pune district, as well as in Mumbai, Thane and Raigad. The weather department has reportedly issued heavy rain alerts for several districts across Maharashtra.
