The Adah Sharma starrer "The Kerala Story" has had a phenomenal opening weekend at the box office, with its Day 3 figures surpassing the previous two days. The movie, released on May 5th, 2023, has gained traction and is on track to becoming a major hit this year.

On the opening day, the movie received a positive response, leading exhibitors to increase the number of shows in cinema halls on Saturday and Sunday. However, some theaters in Tamil Nadu and other states canceled the screening due to the movie's controversial nature. Despite this, "The Kerala Story" was declared tax-free in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

Directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the film continues to perform well at the box office despite being a source of controversy. Early estimates suggest that the film's Day 3 collections were twice that of the opening day, with a total of Rs. 35 crore earned in just three days.

On the opening day, "The Kerala Story" collected Rs. 8.03 crore (nett) in India, followed by Rs. 12.5 crore on Day 2 at the domestic box office. Day 3 was even better than the first two days, with the movie earning Rs. 16.5 crore (nett) in India.

The total box office collection of "The Kerala Story" in India stands at Rs. 37.03 crore. The movie reportedly registered an occupancy of 52.92% on Sunday, May 7th.

Given that the movie was made on a budget of Rs. 40 crore, it is likely to recover its costs this week itself. As a result, "The Kerala Story" is expected to be declared a hit.
